Abigail McClain, Special Education Teacher

Is a dedicated special education teacher at Nowell Academy, currently in her fourth year of teaching. She takes an asset-based approach to instruction, incorporating academic rigor with student interests and advocacy. What she values most about her role at Nowell is working alongside a team deeply committed to advancing opportunities for all students.  

Abby’s college experience sparked a passion for education, motivating her to share its impact with others. She started her teaching career through an alternative pathway and found it to be a uniquely fulfilling profession that allows her to grow alongside her students and colleagues. As part of her commitment to lifelong learning, Abby is currently pursuing TESOL certification at Roger Williams University to better support multilingual learners.

When she’s not teaching, Abby enjoys visiting family around the country, spending time outdoors, baking bread and cinnamon rolls, and spoiling her cat, Juno.
