Kimberly Pineda, Support Specialist
Kimberly, as many of our current students, became pregnant before finishing high school and had to make the hard decision of dropping out of school. She joined Nowell in 2013 when her son was only 5 months old. She struggled with being a full time mom while also being a full time student who needed to be there for her family, but with Nowell's support, she was able to achieve many of the things she thought were impossible after dropping out of school. She graduated from Nowell in 2014 and three months later, she was given the opportunity of coming back as part of Nowell's staff.
She has gotten the chance of working in multiple positions at Nowell but what gives her the greatest joy is supporting Nowell's students and families. Kimberly was born in Rhode island but grew up in Guatemala so she knows how hard it is to come to an unknown country while not knowing the language and she also understands how hard it is to be a teen mom. Kimberly loves providing support to families in any and every way possible. She loves building relationships with students and parents/guardians and making them feel that they are heard and cared for in Nowell's community.
