Yomely Marte, MLL Teacher Leader

"Yomely Marte is a bilingual educator and community liaison with over twenty 23 years of experience in serving multilingual learners at a variety of levels. Yomely currently serves as the MLL Lead Teacher at Nowell Academy where she has worked for the last past 8 years. Yomely differentiates academic content for students at all proficiency levels while also prioritizing their social, emotional and acculturation needs. With an educational philosophy rooted in community partnerships, Yomely has collaborated with local organizations including Providence Talks, The Wilbury Theater, Harbor One Bank and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP).  She previously taught in alternative educational programs in Providence, New York, and Santo Domingo. Yomely holds a BA in Arts Leadership and Change from College Unbound, a TESOL Certification from Oxford Institute, ESL teacher Certification form RWU,  a Teaching Diploma from Universidad Católica Santo Domingo. She is currently  enrolled in a M. Ed at JWU.

In the few hours she is not teaching, Yomely enjoys spending time with her family, cooking their favorite food and spending time strengthening her faith and volunteering"
